On April 30th the National Solid Waste Management Programme launched the first awareness raising session with the different governmental entities in Alexandria. The session was attended by 27 representative from different governmental entities. Al Nasreya Center was introduced during the session as the first treatment facility in Egypt.
One of the goals of the pilot project is extending the awareness campaign to cover all the governmental buildings, schools as well as reaching as much as possible users of the fluorescent lamps.
The Extended Producer System (EPR) was introduced during the session by GIZ consultant, also the proposed collection system was tackled, where the production companies will play a major role in collecting the waste fluorescent lamps in order to be safely disposed in Al-Naserya treatment facility.
