El Mahalla Pilot Project – Gharbeya Governorate

Objective(s)

Households and shops put their source-separated waste (organic/ recyclable) in different bags in front of the building at a certain time. Then a truck (3 tons) collects the bags (dry fraction two-weekly; organic fraction daily) and brings the waste to El-Mahala CP by a big truck. For the small industries the focus is on the separate collection of textile as this fraction currently is included in the mixed waste and causes operational problems at the CP.
